Web Accessibility Review Services
If you would like us to assist you in reviewing your web site to from an accessibility point of view we would be pleased to do so.
Evaluation Report Options
These services are only available to web site owners and not to third parties.
Option 1 - quick review - cost £25 +vat (invoiced)
We can do a brief one page evaluation report pointing out some of the main areas of concern.
For this service we require the site url and basic contact information for the site owner. The review will be limited to a maximum of 5 web pages sampled from the web site and will only focus on the most obvious accessibility issues. We will normally email a report in pdf format to the site owner within 7 working days of receiving the request.
We can only review web site pages that we can readily access as any other casual site visitor. We will also need to see the source code of the pages which you can normally do via the web site browser unless it has been deliberately hidden from view.
We reserve the right to not provide a report at our discretion. If we choose not to you will be informed by email that this is the case.
Option 2 - Preliminary Accessibility Conformance Review - cost £200 +vat (invoiced)
A preliminary review will help to quickly identify the scope of accessibility problems on a Web site and is based on the guidelines for such reviews as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibiliy Initiative (WAI). It is not however a full Accessibility Conformance Review to W3C WAI standards and guidelines (see option 3).
- We will select a representative sampling of pages from the Web site to be reviewed.
- We will examine the selection of web pages using a standard browser:
- With images turned off and check whether appropriate alternative text is available
- With sound turned off and make sure audio content is still available through text equivalents
- Vary font-size to ensure font size changes on the screen accordingly and that the page is still usable
- Vary the screen resolution to verify that horizontal scrolling is not required
- Change the display colour to grey scale and observe whether the colour contrast is adequate
- Navigate the web pages without using the mouse to tab through:
- the links to ensure they can be accessed and that they indicate clearly where they lead
- form controls on a page to ensure they can be accessed
- We will use a text browser or voice browse to examine the Web site to see that:
- equivalent information is available to the GUI browser
- the information is presented in a meaningful order if read serially
- Use two general accessibility evaluation tools and note any problems indicated by the tools
- We will summarize results in a report
- indicating the types of problems encountered
- recommended follow-up actions
Option 3 - Full Accessibility Conformance Evaluation
This is a full review of accessibility problems on a Web site and is based on the guidelines for such reviews as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibiliy Initiative (WAI).
This service is available for web sites under development or for fully operational web sites. It will determine the priority level met and the problem areas associated with meeting the various priority levels.
- We will agree the scope of site to be evaluated and the targeted conformance level of WCAG 1.0 for the evaluation
- We will agree the web pages to be manually tested. This must include at least one of each different type of web page on the site and all pages people are likely to enter the website on
- We will identify all pages of the Web site for automatic and semi-automatic evaluation. If this is not feasible (e.g. because of its unusual size or dynamic nature) we will agree an expanded page selection to be tested. (Note: any accessibility conformance statements placed on the web site must state the extent of the testing.)
- Semi-automatic and automatic evaluation
- We will validate the HTML and CSS on all the identified pages and run some tests on the whole website
- We will run at least two accessibility evaluation tools on all the identified pages and run at least one tool across entire web site
- Manual evaluation

- Vary font-size to ensure font size changes on the screen accordingly and that the page is still usable
- Vary the screen resolution to verify that horizontal scrolling is not required
- Change the display colour to grey scale and observe whether the colour contrast is adequate
- Navigate the web pages without using the mouse to tab through
- the links to ensure they can be accessed and that they indicate clearly where they lead
- form controls on a page to ensure they can be accessed
